Think about how natural reading is to us. Everyday in our daily lives, we see words. We think in words, we survive on words.
A word can be thought of as a seemingly arbitrary arrangement of ink on a piece of paper. And yet, when we see this arrangement of ink, it can trigger a cascade of emotions and memory within our brains.
The act of visually observing these written words can be described in the following process: photons of light bounce off the ink on the paper, these photons then travel to our eyes, they are then focused through a lens in the eye onto our retinas, and an electrical impulse travels through our optical nerves, triggering a biochemical response in our brains.

All sensory inputs that trigger this cascade of biochemical responses are equally strange. Visual perception of words is a relateable example that I think we take for granted.
From the neutral, unbiased view of the universe, how strange is that process of observation, how fundamentally strange are we? The human creature is, frankly, in terms of the unrelentingly indifferent universe, bizarre.
We forget how bizarre we are, because we become so accustomed to our routine in our daily lives, but if we take the time to look at ourselves from an unbiased point of view, we see how strange we are.
