I finished reading The GOD Delusion By Richard Dawkins last night. Let me start off by saying that I recommend this book to anyone who considers themselves a moderate religious person. A person who grew up religious mostly because their parents and family were, but always had doubts about God and the holy books; somebody who is unsure of the existence of God, and who has not seriously thought about it for whatever reason, lack of time, lack of interest, etc. Well if this summarizes your beliefs, than Richard Dawkins wrote The GOD Delusion with specifically you in mind.
I would also recommend his book to somebody who is already an atheist, because Dawkins so elegantly presents his arguments against religion. At times I found myself in awe of how well he presents ideas that I had already had, he articulates them in a way I could only dream of doing.
The book's main goal is to effectively "convert" any religious reader to having an agnostic/atheist view on God and the universe. He does this by presenting (quite convincingly) arguments denying the existence of God, where religion came from, he explains why we do not get our morals from religion, he explains why he is so hostile towards religion, and finally he presents ideas and methods of thinking to fill in the "gap" that will be present if religion is eliminated.
So happy holidays to all. Go read The GOD Delusion and free your mind of the Christian indoctrination that you had to endure as a child; liberate yourself from the methodology of obsolete books. And most of all, do drugs!
